Barcelona will host the cruise fair Seatrade Med in 2014

The city of Barcelona will host the cruise fair Seatrade Med, the main Congress of cruises in the Mediterranean. The event will take place from 16 to 18 September 2014 at Fira de Barcelona.

The cruise fair Seatrade Med will host managers, professionals and experts of the worldwide cruise industry. The cruise fair will feature the major players in the cruise industry as shipbuilders, suppliers of equipment of interior of boats, leisure and entertainment companies, suppliers of information technologies, terminals of cruises, ports, tourism entities, associations of cruises, tour operators, hotels and airlines, among others.

Seatrade Med will be focused around a space exhibition and a technical Conference on the timeliness of the sector programme. Expected for the 2014 Edition, the participation of more than 4,000 attendees and 300 exhibitors and service providers for the Mediterranean cruise market. The fair which will be held in Barcelona will be the tenth edition of the event.

Cruises in Barcelona

The choice of Barcelona as a venue for Seatrade Med 2014 is not for nothing arbitrary, since it is an international port with most scales of cruise ships.

Barcelona is the first port of Europe and the Mediterranean in terms of volume of cruises, cruisers and scales and the fourth port of the world. In 2013, the port of Barcelona expects to reach the 2.6 million cruise passengers, which would get record number registered in the year 2011.

Barcelona significantly influenced General of Spain statistics about cruises, since the country is located between the three most important Nations globally in terms of growth of direct costs related to the cruise tourism. The rise in this section came to its maximum level also in 2011, an increase of 9.4 percent.

According to estimates by Turisme de Barcelona, the economic impact which generated last year cruise for the city traffic was estimated at 232 million euros.
