Barcelona will become the world capital of innovation and education in 2014 thanks to the commitment of Microsoft in our city. So, next March Barcelona will hold Microsoft’s world forum to discuss education and new technologies
The meeting will become Barcelona as the World Capital of Educational Innovation to be held on 11th and March 14th, 2014 and host a 1,500 education experts around the world and come from over 80 countries.
The decision was announced by the chairwoman of Microsoft Ibérica, Maria Garaña, to the Mayor, Xavier Trias, in a letter explaining the event will be a great opportunity to highlight the innovative education projects that Microsoft Ibérica is developing in this country. In his reply, Trias recalled the close collaboration the city and Microsoft have maintained for years and thanked the multinational for its commitment to the Catalan capital. “When a big company like Microsoft decides to go for a city such as ours, it shows that Barcelona is doing a good job. That encourages us to continue working hard. To put new technologies at the service of the people.” He believes that “once again this is a very important project because Barcelona is consolidating its position as a city of culture, knowledge, creativity, innovation and welfare”.
