Some call Feria de Santa Lucia and others, especially Barcelona inhabitants, Fira de Santa Llúcia. Whatever the name (Spanish or Catalan), we clear what we mean: our Christmas market in front of the Cathedral of Barcelona, which will begin on November 27 this year until December 23, the night before Santa Claus visit our homes and two days before Christmas.
The Fira de Santa Llúcia (Feria de Santa Lucia), a Christmas fair held near the Cathedral and is dedicated to the sale of handicrafts and traditional Christmas products, as pessebres (Nativity), Caga Tiós, Christmas trees and other typical products.
La Feria de Santa Llúcia is a very old fashioned traditional event. The origins of the Fira de Santa Llúcia date back at least to 1786.
There are many stalls display their items on the Avenida de la Catedral to offer Christmas decorations of all types so we can decorate our homes with the typical ornaments. The stops of the Fira de Santa Llúcia be grouped, a year in four types:
• Nativity scenes and figures, which are mainly offered: Landscape crib accessories, caves, figures, Christmas lights, balls, candles and Christmas decorations for the home, cribs and trees.
• Craft, where you will find all kinds of handicrafts and accessories such as clothing, jewelry, ornaments and gifts and many others.
• Zambombas, which also, in addition to the traditional instrument, tambourines and many other tools to give a musical touch to your Christmas.
• Green and vegetation, where you can find natural or artificial trees, moss, uncles of all sizes, cork pilgrim, bouquets of luck, eucalyptus branches and the like.
